// FAQ

Hermes Desktop FAQ

When is the Hermes Desktop app launching?

+

The desktop GUI client is in active development. Star the GitHub repo or watch the project for release announcements — installers for macOS, Windows and Linux will land in the same release.

Is the desktop app free and open source?

+

Yes. Hermes Desktop is MIT-licensed, free to download, free to use, and built in the open alongside the rest of the Hermes Agent project by Nous Research.

Which operating systems will be supported?

+

macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel), Windows 10/11 (x64 and ARM64), and major Linux desktops (AppImage, Flatpak, deb/rpm).

Will it support the same skills, MCP servers and messaging platforms as the CLI?

+

Yes — the desktop app is a GUI on top of the same Hermes Agent core. Skills from agentskills.io, every MCP server, all 15+ messaging gateways and the full self-improving learning loop work identically.

Can I use Hermes today without waiting for the desktop app?

+

Absolutely — the Hermes Agent CLI runs on Linux, macOS and WSL2 today. Install in 60 seconds with one curl command. The desktop app is purely a more polished GUI on top of the same engine.
